Hurricane Kitty 6

Haven’t brewed for a while, so wanted to run a batch through we’ve done before

Brewer’s Notes

Large cold break, color is dark gold. Big body, malt flavors, well-balanced. Not as red as I had remembered. Next time, add some cara-red or other malt. Fruit-forward, grapefruit, orange peel.

Fermenter target was 68F.

OG: 1.060 @ 87F, target 1.070
FG: 1.012 @ 68F, target 1.017

Fermentation was done in the conical, so there was only one cycle.

Tasting Notes

10.29.17 1.020 @ 68F
Cloudy orange, looks like a NE IPA. Light tropical aromas, very light flavor with strong bitterness at the end. Not getting much Chloramine flavor, smell. It is not well balanced, overly bittered and not enough malt. Will allow to carbonate at 12PSI.

10.21.18: Almost emptied the keg. It’s fairly drinkable, but not a crisp, clean beer. Heavy but short-lasting head.
